I made this invitation for my mom’s 50th birthday and she loved it , even though she may not have actually liked turning 50!
Are you getting ready to celebrate someone’s 50th birthday? Here’s an idea for an invitation that will fit anyone’s personality and has a cute and clever saying. And, it’s super easy to make!
I first chose a patterned paper that was age appropriate, in which I thought this black and white print worked well. My mom really likes the color blue, so I chose this light shade of blue as my text sheet.
I used my printshop program to figure out the text layout and I used this clever saying to make the invitation more personal…
50 and fabulous! Aged like fine wine…complex & fruity! Please join us as we celebrate Gail’s Birthday!
Then I added the rest of the invitation information, like the date, time and location, and that was it! Because of the narrowness of this text layout, I was able to fit 3 layouts on one piece of paper, which I was able to use for 3 different invitations. I love being able to save paper and money!
I then cut my base paper, which was the black and white print, down to a size of 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. I cut out my text sheets and centered them on the base sheet.
To get the look of the thick black outline around the outside edge, I would normally use another piece of black paper as an extra layer, but here I decided to use a broad tip Sharpie marker and freehanded a border. It looks great, and again I was able to save paper and money!
These invitations were so easy…they only took about 1 or 2 minutes each to put together and draw the border. This is a great idea if you are short on time and have a small budget, but want to make a great invitation!
