This baby shower invitation idea is a great one for someone looking for a quick, easy homemade invitation. It’s a little more on the modern side with a simpler look, not much embellishment and rounded corners.
It’s perfect for a baby shower for a baby girl but would also work great if you substitute a blue and white floral paper and a light blue ribbon. Or, if you need a neutral look, try using a light yellow or green print with a corresponding ribbon color. Any color would look great!
This invitation is so easy to make! Start by developing a text layout on your printshop program or any program that allows word processing. Keep in mind that the overall invitation size will be 5-1/2″ x 5″. Begin the layout by making a text box on the left side of a horizontal page layout. Decide on your font. For this one I wanted a simple all-caps font to keep with the modern look. I didn’t want an extensive saying on the invitation so I simply wrote…
“You are invited to a baby shower celebrating
FAITH AND MICHAEL WILLIAMS
& the upcoming birth of their baby girl”
I also changed the font color to a medium-dark gray because black seemed much to bold for such a delicate invitation. Remember to leave a larger margin near the top portion to allow room for the floral paper.
Once you have a good layout, print it using a trial and error printing and be sure to use an inexpensive printer paper as a test sheet. If your layout works good, copy and paste the text box to the right side of the paper so you will get two invitations per one sheet of paper.
After the text is printed onto the white cardstock cut each sheet to a size of 5-1/2″x 5″. It works best to cute all the papers to make the assembly process go quicker.
Next, cut a strip of the floral paper to a size of 1-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Using mounting squares, attach it to the top of the invitation.
Now, add a simple ribbon by wrapping it around the invitation and tying it in a double knot. The ribbon is not necessary but adds a textured and cute touch to the invitation.
The last step is to round the corners of the invitation. You can either use a corner punch or use a pair of scissors and round them by hand.
That’s it! It is so easy and so cute! You will definitely want to try this one if you’re looking for an easy homemade invitation!
