There is always a lot of interest for homemade baby shower invitations on the web, so I thought I’d show another one that I recently made.
My brother and sister-in-law are having a baby this summer and I was having a shower for them. Obviously the first thing I needed to do was to come up with an invitation for the event.
I didn’t want anything too frilly or really baby-ish because my sister-in-law just isn’t that type of person. She has more of a trendy, hip personality so I wanted to design an invitation that fit her perfectly.
It’s hard sometimes to find the exact papers to fit someone’s personality, especially while standing at Hobby Lobby in front of thousands of different papers, but I came across this pretty simple, but cute, large print polka-dot paper. I liked the trendy, modern colors of it, which weren’t the traditional pastel colors like you’d see on a baby shower invitation.
So, I chose this print. But, then I needed to choose the other accent colors. My brother and sister-in-law don’t know what the gender of their baby is going to be, so I didn’t want to choose specifically a pink or blue accent, so I picked a textured lime green sheet that would be the base for a white text sheet. I liked the way it had a little extra punch to it which a lighter color wouldn’t have been able to do. And, my sister-in-law really likes lime green.
I decided to omit a ribbon on this invite, which I usually put on baby shower invites, because a ribbon just seemed a little too frilly for my sister-in-law. Not only that, but I think that a ribbon may have made the invitation look a little too cluttered and busy. Sometimes, like the old saying goes, less is more.
I think the invitation turned out pretty cute, and the recipients seemed to like it, so I guess I reached my goal of designing an invitation that was cute, fun and trendy for a baby shower! And, it was super simple to put together and took no time at all, which is a plus!
