If you want to create this invitation at home, begin by cutting the skull & crossbones paper in half to a size of 5-1/2″x 8-1/2″. I always use my Exacto Paper Trimmer! It works absolutely perfect and is great for making invitations! Next, cut your orange cardstock to a size of 4-1/4″x 7-1/4″.
The next step is to create a text layout. I like to use my Printshop or Word program. Set the page layout to landscape (horizontal). Create a text box on the left side. Be sure to include all the party information. Also, leave a small space in the middle for the raffia. I like to use fun wording sometimes…
“Join us for a spooky evening of fun!
The Hatcher’s Annual Spooktacular Halloween Party”
I also like to use different fonts to make the text more interesting.
Once you have a good layout, test print it to make sure it works and then print on the cream cardstock.
Cut that down to a size of 4-1/4″x 7-1/4″. Next, rip down the sides of the cream cardstock to give a worn look. This helps add texture to the overall look of the invitation.
Attach the cream cardstock to the orange cardstock using mounting squares.
Using a couple strands of raffia, wrap it around the orange and cream cardstock layer. Tie a simple double knot in the center.
Finally, attach the orange layer to the skull & crossbones paper.
So simple, so fun! Definitely try this design for your next Halloween party!
