If you’re looking for an idea for a baby shower invitation that is cute and trendy, then this will work great for you! The light pink and chocolate colors are super trendy and a parchment tissue paper adds a natural look and texture to the invitation!
And, the best part is, it’s very easy to make!
To begin, cut the chocolate 6-1/4″x 6-1/4″. This will be the overall size of the invitation.
Next, determine a text format that will work for the size of the invitation and for your information. I like to use my printshop program. Choose a horizontal page layout. Create a text box on the left side. Determine the wording and information for your invitation. For this invitation, I wanted to use something cute…
“So sweet and cuddly,
cute and fun,
it’s a shower for
Kennedy Lynn,
her new life’s begun!
You’re invited to a shower
in honor of her mother
Melissa Dawson”
And then continue with the rest of the shower information.
I usually use a trial and error printing until I know that the size and orientation will work. Be sure to use an inexpensive printer paper until you get the layout perfect!
Once you know the layout will work, copy and paste the text block to the right side of the paper so you get two text pages on one sheet of paper. I also used a brown ink for the wording to help it blend better with the colors of the invitation. Print out your text on the pink cardstock.
Next, you will need to cut out your text layer. Cut each text sheet to a size of 3-3/4″ x 5-3/4″. I like to cut out all of my text pages so the assembly process is easier and quicker.
Now you need to cut a strip of the parchment tissue paper. I’ve been looking online for a link to a good parchment tissue paper but I haven’t been able to find one yet. I actually found mine in my basement in my supply of tissue paper and gift bags. I like to keep all the tissue paper and gift bags from our birthdays or other parties because I’m a very green person! I was happy to find this great natural looking pink parchment paper! As soon as I find a link, I’ll put it with the supply list at the top.
If you are unable to find a parchment type paper, try using a standard piece of tissue paper in a light pink color. I just like the look of a natural, translucent paper.
Cut it to a size of 1-3/8″x 13-1/2″. Wrap it around the left side of the invitation, leaving a 3/8″ reveal of chocolate cardstock on the left side. Attach it on the back using scrapbook mounting squares or tape.
Next, cut a length of the ribbon about 20″ long. Wrap it around the invitation on the tissue paper and tie it in a double knot on the front side. Trim the ends with a neat cut. I also wanted a “not perfect” look on the ribbon, so I made sure it was a little gathered while I wrapped it around the invitation.
Now, just attach the text sheet using mounting squares, centering it in the space on the right side.
It is so easy and turns out so cute! You could also use a light blue/chocolate brown color scheme for a boy or a light yellow/chocolate brown color scheme for a neutral invitation!
Let me know what you think! I love hearing your comments and suggestions!
